    Business Description

    The Laing Art Gallery was founded in 1901 by Newcastle businessman Alexander Laing, who provided the funds to build the gallery. Today, it is home to an internationally important collection of British art, including oil paintings, watercolours, ceramics, silver, and glassware. The gallery holds regularly changing exhibitions and events, and features a Northern Spirit gallery showcasing local artwork and objects. The ground floor also includes a shop, café, learning space, under fives’ area, and the Marble Hall with artworks by Henry Moore and Paul Noble. Upstairs, visitors can view 18th and 19th century displays, including works by John Martin, Paul Gauguin, and Burne-Jones. Entry is free, with admission charges for some exhibitions.
