The Weymouth Old Town Hall has been granted a 30-year lease by the Weymouth & Portland Council with the condition that the building be renovated and developed into a Heritage Centre. The focus will be on the significant Civil War Battle that took place nearby, as well as an exhibition, performance, and meeting space for arts and community use. The project is run entirely by volunteers and has been funded through donations, fundraising events, hall hire, and some sponsorship and materials from local businesses and community groups. The project receives no grant funding.
