Ludwig moved into the sausage casing business before the First World War using skills handed down from his German family. He was interned on the Isle of Man during the war and on his release returned to Middlesbrough in 1921 to put the fledgling business on a firm footing. Today the company produces thousands of miles of sausage casings and supplies a wide range of sausage making equipment, seasonings and expertise to home and professional users worldwide. With a rich history and a commitment to providing high-quality products, Weschenfelder Direct continues to be a leader in the sausage making industry.
