Established in 1986, Timespan has evolved from a small local heritage centre to an award-winning museum and the only public contemporary art gallery in Sutherland. With a core visiting audience of around 13,000 per annum, Timespan is a cultural development organization and creative hub that aims to preserve, sustain, celebrate, and amplify the culture of its place. The organization focuses on long-term creative development, new ideas, and creative exchange, and challenges perceptions of what can be delivered by a cultural organization rooted in a rural and remote area. Timespan's themed approach recognizes and nurtures the complexity and diversity of local culture while looking outward nationally and internationally.
