The Yard Bar is the longest running Gay Bar on the Newcastle Gay Scene, originally opened in the early 80's as The Courtyard. Under the ownership of Mr. Adrian Gadd, the bar underwent a total overhaul in 2000. The bar is open daily and offers a variety of events and entertainment, with a downstairs Yard bar and an upstairs bar called 'Heavens Above' featuring local resident DJs. The Yard Bar is a safe space for the North East Gay Community and has been a staple of the Newcastle Gay Scene for decades.
