Business Description

The Observatory Science Centre, formerly the Royal Greenwich Observatory, was founded in 1675 by King Charles II to reduce shipwrecks by providing accurate ways for mariners to work out their position at sea. In the early 20th century, the Observatory was moved to Herstmonceux in Sussex for clearer skies. The Equatorial Group, constructed in the 1950s, houses historic telescopes and interactive exhibits. In 1995, the site became The Observatory Science Centre, offering hands-on science and discovery experiences for visitors.
