Business Description
The Matthew of Bristol is a full-size replica of the sailing ship that discovered Newfoundland in 1497. Based in Bristol Harbour, it is open to the public and offers short cruises around the harbour. In the summer, The Matthew sometimes travels further afield, exploring the wild seas around the British Isles and Northern Europe. The replica was built between 1994 and 1996 to celebrate the quincentenary of John Cabot's historic trip, and in 1997, it followed the same course as the original journey to Newfoundland. The ship is an ideal starting point for exploring Bristol's harbourside and is moored opposite the M Shed museum.
