The Bayle Museum is a historic 12th-century building with unknown origins, originally used as a gatehouse to a castle and later as the gatehouse to the Bridlington Priory. Since the dissolution of the priory, the Bayle has served various purposes including a prison, court, school, garrison, and town hall. Today, the Bayle is a Grade I listed building and scheduled ancient monument, housing a museum and collection of local artifacts.
