In 1992, Telguard was formed with the goal of manufacturing and distributing telephone-based entrance systems to make door and gate entry more affordable and reliable. The company achieved British Approvals Board for Telecommunications approval in June 1994 for its original Telguard product. The idea behind the company's inception was to utilize the global communications network to improve entry systems. The company's Chairman was inspired to start the company after receiving an enquiry in 1985 for automated gates and an intercom system for a private street in Notting Hill.
