Business Description

Tate Britain is a national art museum located in the Millbank area of London, along the Thames River. It is part of the National Gallery network "Tate" along with other museums such as Tate Modern. The historic building was constructed in 1897 on the site of the former Millbank Prison. Originally a branch of the National Gallery specializing in British art, it became an independent museum named "Tate Gallery" in 1955. After the opening of Tate Modern in 2000, the building was reorganized as a museum specializing in British art and reopened as "Tate Britain" in 2001. The gallery displays British art from the 1500s to the present, including works by William Blake, John Constable, William Hogarth, and the Pre-Raphaelites. It also houses famous works such as John Everett Millais' "Ophelia" and John William Waterhouse's "The Lady of Shalott." The gallery also features a comprehensive collection of JMW Turner's works and a wide range of British artists from the mid-20th century to the present day. Additionally, the gallery store offers souvenirs, prints, books, and gifts, and a new Members Room has been restored in the Rotunda, a previously closed area to the public since the 1920s.
