The Sylvia Bird School of Dance, founded over 60 years ago by the late Miss Sylvia Bird, has trained thousands of children, many of whom have gone on to become professional dancers, singers, or actors. Despite the passing of Miss Bird in 2009, her long-standing associates Linda Chamberlain and Joy Thomas have worked tirelessly to keep the school open and honor her memory. The school, located at the original premises on Brays Lane, offers lessons in Tap, Modern, Ballet, Lyrical, and Acrobatics with B.T.D.A examinations, festivals, and general show work.
