They developed the site into the first Steam Sawmill in the Midlands and supplied timber to local builders, joiners, and wheelwrights. The business was carried on by their descendants and eventually moved to new premises in 1976. The company changed its name to Smiths Timber Merchants Ltd in 1998 and is now run by Robert Beall, with the addition of Thomas Beall in 2013. The business is known for its personal service, high-quality products, and excellent value for money, and offers free local delivery.
