The Percy House Gallery, opened in May 2002, is located in a historic 14th century building that had been hidden from public view for over two decades. The gallery showcases a diverse collection of arts and crafts by Cumbrian and British artists, including jewelry, textiles, ceramics, paintings, and photographs. The unique features of the building, such as the famous Tudor ceiling, fireplaces, and plaster work, provide an ideal setting for the displayed artwork. The gallery's downstairs area consists of four rooms, each with its own character, featuring original oak beams dated to 1390 and a flagstone floor. The upstairs area, with a Tudor ceiling dated 1598, was once the home of the Percy bailiff. The gallery offers a unique opportunity to experience Cumbrian paintings, ceramics, and artworks in the oldest town house in Cockermouth, although it does not have disabled access.
