MACS - Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia & Coloboma Support was founded in 1993 by a group of parents brought together by a journalist investigating the causes of these conditions. Since becoming a charity in 1994, MACS has been a key source of information and support for hundreds of families across the UK and worldwide. The charity's trustees are parents of MACS children or directly affected by the conditions, providing insight into how to help members cope with life as blind or partially sighted people. MACS aims to support children born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes and to provide comfort and support to those impacted by these conditions. Their vision is for all people affected by MACS conditions to enjoy the same opportunities as everyone else, and their core values include offering acceptance, inspiring trust, giving support, and providing opportunity.
