London and Middlesex Archaeological Society

The London and Middlesex Archaeological Society (LAMAS) was founded in 1855 with the purpose of investigating the antiquities and early history of London and Middlesex. The society promotes research into London’s archaeology, local history, and historic buildings, and supports the publication of research results. LAMAS has four sub-committees that report to the LAMAS Council, focusing on publications, archaeology, Greater London local history, and historic buildings and conservation. The society also works to engage children in the fields of archaeology, local history, and historic buildings, supporting the Central London Young Archaeologists’ Club.
