    Business Description

    The John Rylands Library, located on Deansgate, was founded by Enriqueta Rylands in memory of her husband John Rylands. The striking gothic building, designed by architect Basil Champneys, opened to public readers in 1900 and became part of The University of Manchester in 1972. The library currently holds the Special Collections of the John Rylands University Library, with over 250,000 printed volumes and well over a million manuscripts and archival items. The Library welcomes over 250,000 visitors annually and offers a range of events and programs for the public to enjoy.
