    The Guildhall Art Gallery, established in 1886, was rebuilt on its original site in 1988 after the original building was destroyed in 1941. The new building was designed to incorporate the remains of London's Roman Amphitheatre, which were discovered during the rebuilding process. The gallery is home to the City of London Corporation's art collection, featuring seventeenth century portraits, Pre-Raphaelite masterpieces, and paintings documenting London's history.
