GAFIRS is an independent lifeboat service providing emergency lifeboat services and free marine rescue cover in Portsmouth Harbour and the Solent. They respond to over 110 emergency incidents per year and are affiliated with the Royal Life Saving Society and the British Canoe Union. GAFIRS is a registered charity run by unpaid volunteers and relies on support to fund their lifeboat service. They are one of the busiest lifeboat stations in the UK and can be reached by calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard.
