Business Description

Welcome to one of the oldest and largest Geography and Earth Sciences departments in the UK. Aberystwyth was the first department to offer a single honours degree in human geography and physical geography, and has always been at the forefront of innovation in teaching and research. The most recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) in 2008 saw the Institute ranked among the top 12 departments in the UK for Geography, with 20% of research rated as "world-leading" and 45% as either "world-leading" or "international excellence". At Aberystwyth University, there are opportunities to study in a challenging environment. The Institute is located in one of the most beautiful areas in Europe, surrounded by mountains and situated on the coast of Cardigan Bay, offering a unique position to make the most of the stunning landscape around them.
