Legend has it that the ale house's mould spores blowing through Sir Alexander Flemming's window led to the discovery of Penicillin in 1928. The name "Fountains" comes from nearby springs and wells, while "Abbey" stems from Westminster Abbey's ownership of the manor of Paddington during Saxon times. This traditional high street pub offers a truly British experience, with a bustling atmosphere for after work drinks and well-served pints of cask ale alongside classic British pub fare. The beautiful, old-fashioned Victorian pub is located opposite St Mary's Hospital in Paddington and features original tiling and leaded windows, and was once a haunt of biologist Sir Alexander Fleming.
