The Bossington Estate is an iconic sporting estate on the River Test, known as the birthplace of dry fly-fishing. With 5 miles of the River Test and 2 miles of The Wallop Brook, the estate also runs a commercial fishery. In 2013, the estate began the largest river restoration project ever seen on the Test, partially funded by the Environment Agency. The estate is home to the Bossington Herd of Red Rubies or North Devon cattle, well-suited to the water meadows. The cattle are grass-fed, and their meat is highly prized by top chefs for its tenderness and flavor. The estate also raises pasture-raised pigs and is embarking on a new enterprise to raise pasture-raised chickens. All the meat from the livestock is used to supply Chalk Valley Farm & Kitchen, which is in the same ownership.
