Business Description

Ffordes Photographic Ltd was founded in May 1960 in Southernhay, Basildon, Essex by Reg Byford, a passionate amateur photographer. The business quickly became one of the largest retailers and main dealers for cine and camera equipment by various brands. After the founder's passing in 1995, his son Stephen took over the business and continued to uphold the high level of service and staff knowledge that customers had come to expect. In the early 1990s, the company relocated to a larger and more prominent shop in Westcliff-on Sea, Essex, and later moved to Beauly, Scotland in 2001. Ffordes is now located in a restored former Free Church, where it also houses its sister company, Beauly Gallery and Gifts Ltd. The company prides itself on offering high levels of service and advice to amateur and professional photographers, with knowledgeable staff who share the same interests as their customers. Ffordes has become one of the largest independent camera specialists in Scotland and one of the biggest dealers for used Film & Digital equipment in the UK.
