★★★★★We had a very disappointing experience with Gary Boys / DJ One Deck at our wedding celebration and unfortunately would not recommend him.
Before the event, Gary told us he had visited the venue and described it very positively. After the wedding, however, he complained that it was a terrible venue and said he had needed to hire someone to help bring his equipment in. This was difficult to understand given that he had inspected the venue beforehand.
During the evening, there was also a woman repeatedly on or around the dance floor who we had not been told would be attending. We later understood that she was working with Gary. Her presence made us uncomfortable, particularly because we had neither requested nor expected an additional person to be involved.
The biggest issue was the music itself. We had provided a carefully selected playlist intended to create an uplifting atmosphere, but many of those songs were not played. Instead, Gary chose a substantial amount of different music that did not reflect what we had asked for. Several guests commented negatively on the music, and people started leaving earlier than expected because the atmosphere was not what we had planned.
There were also significant professionalism issues. Multiple guests observed Gary sleeping during the event while he was meant to be working. He also missed the agreed song for the cake cutting, leaving an important moment without the music we had planned.
Afterwards, we called Gary and gave him the opportunity to respond to our concerns. Unfortunately, rather than acknowledging the issues, we felt that the explanations we received were largely excuses and did not adequately address what had happened.
A wedding DJ has a major influence on the atmosphere of the evening, which is why we had put considerable effort into communicating our preferences beforehand. Sadly, our experience was very different from what we had agreed and expected.☆ Helpful (0)⚐ Report
