WKCIL established Scotland's first Craft & Design town, now known as Craft Town Scotland, with the aim of revitalizing the town center. The initiative aims to develop West Kilbride as a center for quality and distinctiveness in craft and design, stimulate interest in the arts, provide studio space and gallery outlets for makers/designers, and establish a major regional facility for craft exhibitions and activities. The vision is for Craft Town Scotland to be acknowledged as a vibrant, successful town and the leading community-led craft and design town initiative in Scotland. The mission is to establish West Kilbride as Craft Town Scotland, with a vibrant community of craft workers/designer-makers and ongoing support for craft workers/designer-makers and visitors.
