CHIVA was established in 2002 as a network for healthcare providers working with children and young people with HIV. In 2008, it became a registered charity and expanded its work. CHIVA manages a network for professionals, develops a centralised website for information and support, and runs an annual support camp for HIV positive teenagers. The organization has an Executive Committee and a Youth Committee, and is active in policy and practice development to ensure support for children and families living with HIV.
